The Metropolitan Apartments development entailed the substantial rehabilitation of three vintage properties into 69 efficiency, one, two, three and four bedroom rental apartments. Each building has between 20 and 25 units. Metropolitan has a mixed resident demographic, divided between affordable and market residents. Responsible Section 8 subsidy holders are welcome. Washington Park, the University of Chicago, the DuSable Museum and other important community assets are close by the development. The principal north/south thoroughfares are Michigan Avenue and King Drive; the principal east/west thoroughfares are 51st, 53rd and 59th Streets. Metropolitan is convenient to major expressways and mass transit systems including the CTA Red Line. The surrounding Bronzeville neighborhood has generally improved over the past several years.
